The state of English football. Without doubt that it is the subject that the fans of English football are discussing the length and breadth of the country.

Early this week Vital Pompey were requested to supply a spokesperson to discuss the subject by the Observer newspaper. Well I was volunteered and I spent Tuesday in London at the offices of The Guardian/Observer talking to fans from other clubs websites and the staff of the two papers.

It was certainly a fun day and there is no doubt that football fraternity want Pompey to survive and there was a great camaraderie between us as soon as we met.

The purpose of the day was to record a video to get people thinking about the various problems which appear to riddle our game. You can see the finished video on youtube by clicking below.

A very professional job and incidentally Brian Oliver the Observer’s Sports Editor is a Pompey fan. The Observer relaunches this Sunday with a new layout/format and in the Sports section Chief Football Correspondent Paul Hayward will be interviewing Sir Alex Ferguson.

Sad my piece was cut short but they plan to use bits in the Newspaper on Sunday so perhaps I will have to buy one. At least our inclusion proves Vital Pompey is number one for Pompey news and opinions. Watch the video and post your comments below.
