‘Richard Hughes is the most likely of the ‘excluded’ trio to play for us again’, not my vote, yours – although these findings from pompeyrug’s poll are thoughts that I tend to agree with, but still think none of them playing for us again in the most likely scenario to be honest…
As said I am not expecting Hughes, Tal Ben-Haim or Mikey Brown to play for us again – I think we all know the score here and all have our frustrations with it.
The most annoying thing, as I suspect we ARE picking up the tab for Ben-Haim, and that is some £38,000 p/w or so, is that we are paying out what must amount to the best part of £80,000 p/w, more than £300,000 p/m, on three players that cannot/will not do anything for this club!
That amount of money is a lot for any club, especially without any return, an absolute fortune for us at this time…
It is ‘said’ that things are ‘complex’ and ‘difficult’ with the situations not straightforward?
The new contract that Hughesy and Browny would get, should they play that extra game, would apparently have kicked-in with immediate effect with them getting paid the reduced salary from that point.
So, to be fair, you could see why they would not agree to that idea.
Although I cannot see why they could not simply have agreed a deal to remove the clause altogether and simply play out their existing contracts, which they WILL get paid full whack for anyway, by actually playing, after all that is what they are paid to do, and then talk again in the summer about a reduced contract or just move on?
It really cannot be that hard can it?
So, I find it hard to have too much sympathy for these two as it seems – be it down to them or actions of their agents/representatives – that they are happy to just sit out their contracts and pick up the cash.
What the deal is with Ben-Haim is anybodies guess!?
What is almost certain is – like I say – I would imagine we are paying his full wages during this dispute between him, us, West Ham and whoever, which is ludicrous as we have this to ‘potentially’ contend with until June 2012 as things stand…
Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded? You know what to do, thoughts below please guys…
PLAY UP POMPEY!
