Right now it feels better than for some time to be a Pompey fan. We’re out of administration, we have a Pompey stalwart as our manager and ‘we’ now own the club and ground.
After all we’ve had to put up with it’s a relief.
Now here’s a warning for us all. We’ve got what we wanted, the club belongs to us and we can surely only progress upwards from here. Well maybe so but things will get rocky at some point in the future. When that happens, just remember today and bite your lip before screaming for the manager’s head or the board to be sacked.
If we lose our first few matches next season or if we don’t go straight back up, let’s all keep calm and stick with the plan. If the gates remain good we will surely have a reasonably bright future and should stay solvent.
In my worst dreams I hear ‘fans’ demanding we mortgage the ground to raise funds to buy that one player we need to get out of division 2 or 1 or the Championship. Or maybe I’m too un-ambitious?
