Sunday Carvery is a Winner

It was my wife’s Birthday on Sunday 7th October, so it was celebration time.

As she is also an avid Pompey fan, I thought what better way was there of celebrating than booking into the MM suite at Fratton Park for Sunday roast.

It’s simple to book, 023 9277 8555 Hilary will take the booking, paid for there and then with the old plastic! Lovely lady squeezed us in at late notice (typical bloke!). She gives you a time slot, and it’s all done.

Arrived at Fratton Park early, why do I get a buzz from just being at that place now, even when not on match day? No problems, they sat us straight away. For any of you that haven’t seen it yet, the MM suite has had a makeover, quite different now, kinda sophisticated. Have to be honest; when we were taken to our table, I was disappointed to see we were sharing. But, with the kids in tow, we soon got talking and debating Pompey, particularly Sean Davis (had to ask the bloke if he was russellm!! lol) and, if anything it added to the occasion anyway.

Up we went for the carvery, wasn’t expecting this, but the food was top notch!! A choice of roast Beef or Lamb, a veggie alternative, and all the Yorkshires and vegetables you could wish for. For those of us with the larger appetite, I believe you could go up again if you liked.

Desert was just as good, a selection of very appetising cold deserts with cream, and an incredibly good, thick and stodgy Apple Crumble and Custard.

Then we went off on the tour. Started at the dugout, kids pretending to be HR!!! Then into the changing rooms, off up to the directors box, kids waving in Sascha style to the Fratton End, then off to the boardroom. This was great for any Pompey fan!! Unfortunately for any of you looking to go, I don’t think they are doing the tour every week, you would have to ask Hilary at the time of booking.

We then watched the Fulham – Pompey game in the MM suite, next best thing to being at the game! Sneaked a peek into the sports bar that looks fantastic!

This day cost just £9.95 per adult and £4.95 per kid. That was less than £30 for the wife’s Birthday treat!! Thank god she is a Pompey fan too!

It has been jokingly asked if I am on commission, well no, but Rug asked if I would write an article on my day. As a family we loved it!!! Here’s the crunch, the staff said if it isn’t used, they will stop it, and it is great value, especially if Pompey are away on a Sunday. Vital members, don’t miss this, look for when they are showing Pompey away, try to get on the tour and have a good day!
