BACK TO IT

Late goals in the last week have cost Pompey dear, three points at Charlton and Forsell decides to get his first goal in open play for two years with three minutes to go against Blackburn. From almost assured safety, we now have the task of over-hauling Birmingham once again.

Saturday brings the already doomed Sunderland to the south coast looking to drag us down with them, relegated teams often play with a sense of freedom as the mackems displayed against Newcastle in the north west derby, until their late collapse anyway.

Lua is still struggling with his self-imposed ankle injury, but would hope to be fit come Saturday, our Congonese international with the cockney accent has been talismanic lately, popping up with a goal even when not playing particularly well. Pedro Mendes should also return, his presence was also sorely missed at the Valley along with his long-range threat we don?t possess without him.

It?s hard to predict which Sunderland will turn up, care-free, or simply battered and on the ropes waiting for the k.o, whichever takes the field, it?s Pompey who NEED the points now, we don?t want to be relying on beating Liverpool come May 7th.

What the crowd on Saturday need to do more than ever, is drive the blues on, our passion seems to lift Pompey when it?s most needed, what we don?t need is tension and anxiety drifting down to the pitch!

Come Saturday evening I sincerely hope my after match notes are again filled with optimism and not the nervousness these preview words display, it?s now or never!

Play up Pompey
