Start Must Please Blues Fans

|

On Saturday, Pompey made it three out of three with a comfortable win over Oxford at Fratton Park.

A midweek League Cup defeat last Tuesday was, of course, disappointing, kind of, but victory over the U’s certainly made up for the AFC Wimbledon setback, didn’t it?

I say it was a “comfortable win” over Oxford, however, in all fairness they had some chances with the post and Blues goalkeeper, Craig MacGillivray, saving us a few times.

Sadly he couldn’t manage a clean sheet, which took the gloss off, slightly, for him.

MacGillivray’s performance was appreciated by the Fratton faithful, confidence in his ability is growing by the game too.

Jamal Lowe’s double, which clearly pleased him, helped Pompey on the way to the 3-1 win, maintaining our 100% League One record in the process – only goal difference is keeping us off top spot at this stage.

Understandably in many ways, going into the Oxford game confidence was high, especially given the poor start the U’s had made to the season. Nothing could be taken for granted though.

However, despite the tough looking opening to the season handed out, as much as footie isn’t played on paper, to have secured three wins out of three – no matter how they’ve been achieved – surely has to please most Blues fans!

This win did.
