Earlier in the summer I asked what people thought Frank Songo’o’s future would be with Pompey – the general opinion I believe was that most felt he might still have something to offer, but he may need to go out on loan again?

Those who have PFCtv, will have seen and heard what he said, those that do not would have simply read it on the Pompey site but he basically feels that he is up to the challenge if he gets a chance and feels he is more than good enough.

Competition for places throughout the side is going to be good this season, but Songo’o is looking forward to this.

From what I have seen of him in pre season, although he may have been slipping out of contention, quite possibly away from Pompey altogether, my thinking now is we may well see a little bit of him this season – and not just in the league cup – than we might have thought.

He is still behind a few players but I would not be surprised to see his name show up on the bench a few times this season. With players tiring in the closing stages of matches his pace could be well utilised, then if he does do well who knows, then his future will be anything but away from Fratton Park.

The pre season opposition may not have been the strongest, but he has certainly reminded a few people who he is and given Harry Redknapp something else to ponder this season.

Initially I thought that Redknapp might not have been too keen on the former Barcelona youngster, but now my thinking is he may be a lot keener on the 20 year old Frenchman than many, myself included, thought?
