The words ‘some good news’ are rarely heard in connection with Portsmouth Football Club these days are they!

Although those very words form a quote, in The News, from PKF spokesman Andy Konieczko today.

According to him, although there is nothing official from the football league, Pompey will not be docked further points going into league one next season: ‘Trevor has been in constant contact with the Football League and letting them know what is likely to happen at the club.

‘He knows there will not be any further points deduction for Pompey, so that’s some good news.’

That is indeed some good news, right?

The fears were that we could go into next season on -17pts, but if these quotes are indeed correct then we will go into the season on an even footing, at least as far as the league table goes and if nothing else this gives us a fighting chance of staying in that division!

Ok, ok, I know many would be looking at something more than just ‘staying in league one’ but getting relegated into league two is something that must be avoided.

If we can somehow push for promotion then that would be great but I do not think, realistically, I am being ‘negative’ by saying avoiding another relegation is the priority, am I?

The summer conference takes place later this week, during this conference Pompey will have to give some pretty strong evidence that we will have owners in place and be able to fulfil our fixtures.

As things stand, preferred owner or not, with Balram Chainrai ‘set’ to return again this looks like something we will be able to do…
