There is a feeling of déjà vu as Tommy Smith has again been confirmed as having left the club…

The permanent transfer to QPR did not go through on time last week, so the deal – like the Liam Lawrence one with him coming to Pompey from Stoke – was left in doubt.

Although a loan deal, with him completing a permanent transfer in January, has been confirmed on The Pompey Site with a statement saying: ‘QPR have completed the loan signing of Tommy Smith from Pompey.

‘The 30-year-old has penned a deal which runs until the January transfer window.

‘As part of the deal Smith will become a QPR player permanently on January 1 2011.

‘Smith made 22 appearances for Pompey after signing from Watford in August 2009, scoring one goal.’

With the Smith deal now complete ‘hopefully’ the Lawrence deal can also be officially signed off as well…
