Pompey gave all the fans a big old tonic by stuffing Posh on their own manor, we have been waiting for our team to be pillaged, but our very own Viking was the one doing that on the day, Erik returned to form with 2 goals, one a poacher tap-in and the other a trademark sut in from the left and curl round the ‘keeper.

Appleton left Kitson on the bench for this one, Rocha came back into the middle of defence and Huseklepp moved more inside in a floating role.

‘Boro had the first shot in anger, but Pompey were to wait only six minutes to take the lead, Futacs forced a save from Joe Lewis in the goal, Huseklepp was folloewing up though and he scrambled the ball home at the second attempt.

Paul Taylor tried to level from distance, his shot though flew wide and Pompey kept their noses in front.

Etuhu in his second start suddenly sprang into life, he fed Lawrence who blasted for goal, Lewis though made a great save to dent the captain a seasons first goal.

Pompey though were running the home side ragged, the off field diversity has galvanised the team and a siege mentality has set in, the second goal came from one of our sought after players, Jason Pearce thundering home a header from Lawrence’s corner, if it is to be his last game in the blue of Pompey, he left his mark in the best possible way.

Pompey had looked more than comfortable in the first half, Peterborough did threaten more in the second but were to find Rocha and Pearce in imperious form, Henderson also was not to beaten.

Taylor shot wide once more and McCann had a free-kick well saved, but the match was to belong to Pompey, Futacs probably should of domne better with one effort and Lawrence was to be denied yet again by Lewis in the home goal, Huseklepp though was kill the game off with just over 10 minutes to go, he turned his man, jinked inside and slotted home clinically past Lewis, Pompey had scored 3 away from home and kept a clean sheet, this earned a second away win of the season and puts us 10 points above the drop zone, just in case those nast men at the FA decide to dock us 10 points!
