Pompey gave all the fans a big old tonic by stuffing Posh on their own manor, we have been waiting for our team to be pillaged, but our very own Viking was the one doing that on the day, Erik returned to form with 2 goals, one a poacher tap-in and the other a trademark sut in from the left and curl round the ‘keeper.

Appleton left Kitson on the bench for this one, Rocha came back into the middle of defence and Huseklepp moved more inside in a floating role.

‘Boro had the first shot in anger, but Pompey were to wait only six minutes to take the lead, Futacs forced a save from Joe Lewis in the goal, Huseklepp was folloewing up though and he scrambled the ball home at the second attempt.

Paul Taylor tried to level from distance, his shot though flew wide and Pompey kept their noses in front.

Etuhu in his second start suddenly sprang into life, he fed Lawrence who blasted for goal, Lewis though made a great save to dent the captain a seasons first goal.

Pompey though were running the home side ragged, the off field diversity has galvanised the team and a siege mentality has set in, the second goal came from one of our sought after players, Jason Pearce thundering home a header from Lawrence’s corner, if it is to be his last game in the blue of Pompey, he left his mark in the best possible way.

Pompey had looked more than comfortable in the first half, Peterborough did threaten more in the second but were to find Rocha and Pearce in imperious form, Henderson also was not to beaten.

Taylor shot wide once more and McCann had a free-kick well saved, but the match was to belong to Pompey, Futacs probably should of domne better with one effort and Lawrence was to be denied yet again by Lewis in the home goal, Huseklepp though was kill the game off with just over 10 minutes to go, he turned his man, jinked inside and slotted home clinically past Lewis, Pompey had scored 3 away from home and kept a clean sheet, this earned a second away win of the season and puts us 10 points above the drop zone, just in case those nast men at the FA decide to dock us 10 points!

  • Was always confident we would win this game. Great attitude by those heroes on the pitch compared to the knts off it. Only worry is how many vultures were in seats watching?

  • someone sent a message in on express FM saying Howe/wolanin was hoping that there might be some news tonight 00.13 now and nowt on the net,,even there FB page where the rumour had come from.,,

  • Graham I think most thought that was a fairly hopeful rumour; there was no one to talk to or sign anything this evening. I see Cala has finally shut up.

  • Well done to Appy and the lads, excellent win. I was very impressed with Appy’s pre-match rhetoric, ie ‘stop feeling sorry for ourselves’.

  • Great win at Peterborough. Just demonstrates the potential if only our financial problems could be resolved.

    I can’t see any point in selling players at this point. It might pay the current tax bill, but there will be another bill in February and another in March. If we keep selling players we won’t be able to field a team!

    As I see it, there are three options:

    1) a buyer emerges who will pay the tax bill and the players’ and other staff salaries before the winding-up petition is heard (if only);

    2) one of the creditors (presumably Chainrai) puts PFC into administration again, and provides day to day financing until a buyer can be found;

    3) we are liquidated and have to start again.

    Either way, there is no point in selling players. It would just make it even more difficult for the club to function and thus reduce the value of the club. In fact the reduction would probably be more than any receipt from selling players since the buyer would scarcely be buying a going concern.

    A grim prospect all round, so let’s hope for some less bad news in the next few days. PUP.

  • Went to the game yesterday and it was an excellent Pompey display! Etuhu is one to look out for shows promise! The passes was a lot better with serval thru balls played to the pacey Erik and Etuhu, the best Away game this season! Ethuhu man of the match!

  • Great result on the field lets hope for some good news now off the field. Hey time for me to throw my usual spanner in the debating works now! Most fans would like to see Kitson not being an automatic choice however he usually is always in the startimg line up. However he was on the bench for this match (anyone know why?) and we had our best performance yet! Does anyone think that, with the current financial situation and constant speculation, that Kitson has been sold????! Discuss!!!

  • Not sure about that but he hasn’t been scoring many.

    Great result for you lot and now 10 points above drop zone and 11 behind play-offs. You couldn’t could you? :>)

  • Mad Phill Appy talked of tactically finding a point point within posh before the game. Having watched the game I’m guessing it was using pace to get thru the back four! Hence Erik in Kirson out.

  • i have two bets on Pompey getting promotion from pre season..i bet te odds are higher now..but al along i have had a little dream of meeting Stains in the playoff final at Wembley…..come on owner soon

  • Think we will gain automatic place but would love to see you lot join us up with the big boys. Your team is starting to look bloody good.
