Reminding Europe We Were Great

An article from Pompey Malta about how a couple of Pompey old boys stunned Barca last night.

When no one seems to care about Portsmouth and the latest drama related to the club that is struggling to move forward on football terms, due to the ongoing financial farce that is sinking Fratton Park, and when Portsmouth seems to be a once-upon-a-time Premier League Club that won the FA Cup (so many many years ago, or not?), two ex-Pompey players reminds the world that we still exist.

Deep down in League 1!

Coincidentally, Kevin Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari, 2 players who played in 2 different FA Cup finals for Portsmouth, now playing for Milan, managed to inspire Milan to victory against all odds, scoring 2 goals to beat Barcelona.

It was not long ago when Portsmouth, under Tony Adams who was only sacked 2 years ago in February, held AC Milan at Fratton Park 2-2. You probably remember that day. Is this a sign? Prince and Muntari’s goals have sent a message across Europe that everything is possible in football, as long as there is the will and determination.

Newspaper titles this morning refer to “Old Pompey Boys” and how they lived on to become heroes, while their ex-team hopes for a miracle, just like the one performed yesterday. Let us hope that this magic from Boateng and Muntari gives us all hope, and see us through to the next round of fixtures.
