There has been a lot of talk surrounding Milan Baros and a possible move to Pompey, a lot of this merely paper talk and talk from his agent Pavel Paska but finally Harry Redknapp has confirmed to The News that he is indeed a target of his – his ‘prime target’ according to the paper: ‘I’m just looking for a front man at the moment – that’s the important one.

‘We need more bodies up front. That was the case before Kanu went; now we’ve only got two. We need to strengthen there, for sure.

‘Baros is a player I know. I like him and I would be interested. I think he’s a good player.

‘He’s played in the World Cup for the Czech Republic, who are a very good team, and been a
golden boot winner in the European Championships. That’s fantastic pedigree for any player.

‘And you don’t play for Liverpool if you are a mug. He’s a top player.

‘I know Peter Storrie has spoken to the people there and that’s all at the moment. I don’t think there’s anything concrete just yet’.

I do not think that his quality and pedigree can be doubted, he did well in England last time but I still feel he will feel he has something to prove here, so if we could arrange a deal I would be more than pleased – although it is already being ‘said’ that an approach has been rejected?

It is looking more and more likely that any deal that we do for a striker will have to be a loan deal as despite all the talk it is not looking like we will have the funds to buy – that is unless we sell… but then again as I keep telling myself with Pompey you never know what might happen, so you can never say never.
