Reports are starting to filter through early this Sunday morning that Andrew Cole ‘was not left behind’ from the squad that went to Hong Kong for the Barclays Asia Trophy, he decided to stay behind himself.

Harry Redknapp is said to have told the mail on Sunday ‘It was his choice. We asked him if he wanted to come and he said he would rather stay at home because he thought he could train better and recover from a knock. He could have come here and I don’t know why he would say differently. I think he wants to leave the club’.

Clearly Cole is not in the clubs plans, this has been clear for sometime. If seeing him sent out on loan last season, with the view to a permanent move away was not enough of a clue, the fact that he has not featured in pre season at all must be.

You do not know what goes on behind closed doors, but my thinking would be it is probably six of one and half a dozen of another with the whole ‘you could have come, but you did not want to’ argument building up here.

Either way, my thoughts from earlier in the week that Cole would not play another game for Pompey – after what he was claimed to have said – are even more likely to be the case now.

PLAY UP POMPEY!
