…and not ‘offensive’ as in unpleasant, offensive as in attacking!

Prince – as Kevin-Prince Boateng wants to be know, has uttered words, to The News, that are ‘music to my ears.’

He claims that he is not a defensive midfielder and has been signed on the instruction not to be: ‘Paul Hart has also told me he doesn’t want me to be a defensive midfielder and that’s fine by me.’

It has been my thinking that in Jamie O’Hara we had an option that would get forward, so with him as part of a central 3, as part of the 4-5-1 system, he could get forward offering us an attacking threat – if Prince can do this too then it is happy days!

The former German U21 also said: ‘when I first arrived in England at Spurs, Martin Jol thought I was a defensive midfielder.

‘That’s where he put me all the time in training. He just wanted me to concentrate on the defence.

‘I’m not a defensive midfielder, I like to go forward, I like to get into the box and get into positions and score. That’s what I want to do.

‘If there are chances I can score goals, I just want to go forwards.

Attack away…

Of course the likes of O’Hara Prince cannot, and for me will not, neglect their defensive duties but with someone like Aaron Mokoena deployed solely as that defensive screen for the back 4, rarely venturing further forward than the half way line, this only backs up mine – and others’ – thoughts that we have a great deal of creative, and goalscoring threat, from the midfield now than we did.
