Linvoy Primus has targeted the match with Liverpool at Fratton on September 15th as the date for his Pompey comeback.

He has not played since the end of last season because of a knee injury, which required surgery during in the summer, but he has now been back in training for a couple of weeks and is getting closer to full match fitness.

Tonight’s league cup much would have been ideally suited to help him along the road to recovery, but that level of football has come too soon, but he is scheduled to feature in reserve games with Chelsea tomorrow, then Arsenal next Monday – both of which should be good testers for him.

Pompey travel to Arsenal this Sunday, but there is then an international break which should help Primus even more, giving him a little more time to train and get fully up to speed before coming back into 1st team contention.

Primus is always a player I want to have available so the sooner he can come back the better. All being well he can come through these reserve games with no negative reactions to then fight for his place, then once he has it back, as usual hold onto it.
