Pompey picked up another three points with our 1-0 win over Charlton, earning our fifth consecutive clean sheet in our latest Barclays Premiership match, what about the others?

Saturday 16/09/06
Bolton 0-0 Middlesbrough
The match between Pompey’s next Premiership opponents Bolton and Middlesbrough would end in a draw with either side able to trouble the scorers.

Everton 2-2 Wigan
After twice leading Everton would have to settle for a point. A man in fine goalscoring form, Andy Johnson (48) would open the scoring only for Paul Scharner (61) to equalise. Four minute later substitute James Beattie (65) would convert a penalty but Wigan wouldn’t be denied, one again Scharner (67) would level.

Sheff Utd 1-2 Reading
Two of last seasons promoted sides would meet in a game both would feel they had to win. Kevin Doyle (1) would open the scoring after only 22 seconds, before Korean Seol Ki-Hyeon (24) doubled the advantage. Rob Hulse (60) would give Sheff United hope but they couldn’t find the equaliser.

Watford 0-0Aston Villa
The evening SKY Sports Prem Plus game saw both goalkeepers kept very busy but neither could be beaten as the honours ended even in a goal less draw.

Sunday 17/09/06
Blackburn 4-2 Man City
Blackburn recorded their first victory of the season against struggling Manchester City. Trevor Sinclair (17) would put through his own net to give Blackburn the lead before Joey Barton (38) pulled City level. Morten Gamst Pedersen (43) would restore the lead before the games second own goal from Andre Ooijer (44) saw City level again. Benni McCarthy (65) and a late Paul Gallagher (88) effort secured the win.

Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool
Didier Drogba (41) scored a stunning goal to give Chelsea victory in the early SKY Sports clash. Even having Michael Ballack (50) Sent Off for dangerous play could not change the result as missed chances cost Liverpool.

Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal
The second LIVE offering of the day from SKY Sport would see Tomasz Kuszczak, on his Manchester United debut concede a penalty only to save the resulting Gilberto Silva (11) effort. Emmanuel Adebayor (85) however would still win the game for Arsenal, a result that leaves Pompey top of the league!

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham
With Tottenham having trouble scoring recently they would be unable to find the net at White Hart Lane today, the London derby ending in a 0-0 draw.

West Ham 0-0 Newcastle
Newcastle United returned home with all three points. Damien Duff (49) opened the scoring before former Pompey target Obafemi Martins (74) wrapped things up.

Pompey, Aston Villa and Everton are now the only unbeaten sides left in the Premiership, who’d have thought this back on August 19th…
