Portsmouth Secure League One Return

Portsmouth secured automatic promotion from League Two today following a three one victory over Notts County.

With Rug at the game he asked if someone at Vital Towers could mention Pompey’s promotion in his absence, as he will probably be half cut coming back from Meadow Lane at the moment enjoying a celebration with the 5,000 Blues fans (and the rest) along with his Devon Blues mates heading back to the west country.

So having duly promised…

With four years spent in League Two and a dark time at the club following the drop from the Premier League all those years ago, a seventh win in nine matches means Portsmouth are now secure in the automatic spots with Luton Town now unable to catch them with a ten point gap and only three games remaining.

With Paul Cook failing at the Play Off semi final hurdle in his first year at the club, guaranteeing promotion with games to spare will put that disappointment firmly behind everyone and I doubt Rug’s alone in hoping that this is the start of things turning for the club again.

You’ll no doubt hear from him when he sobers up!
