PompeyFrippy reports back on what his recently suggested poll, about who was to blame for our shoddy form of late, concluded – read on for more.
So, 5 games, 2 points and knocked out of the FA Cup. I asked who was to blame and nearly three-quarters of you said the players were to blame instead of the manager.
Firstly, I want to point out that I deliberately left out the option of both/neither. I wanted a definitive answer of how many of us were behind Steve Cotterill, and the overwhelming majority of us are.
January has never been the kindest of months for Pompey in recent years, and this year gave us the added problems of an incredibly shallow squad, coupled with loans ending, ineligibility and suspensions, not to mention injuries. But in addition to this, our defence hasn’t been performing well recently, our midfield is a lot weaker then it was a few weeks ago, and our strikeforce is hardly firing from all cylinders.
Maybe it’s because of these reason that the players are to blame for our poor form of late, and on top of that, Cotterill has done alright this season with what he’s been given, and the scenario behind the scenes he’s had to deal with. Although the much underlined undisciplined performance at Brighton may have been what tipped the scales.
Fingers crossed Cotterill can talk some sense into the players, and wouldn’t it be fantastic to turn things around in time for Forest on Saturday, 3 points there and our season is looking alright again.
What the poll asked?
Bad run since Christmas, who’s to blame?
The Players 74%
The Manager 26%
