Chances are some of those within the 28 man squad Kenny Jackett is working with aren’t going to be at Fratton Park when the season gets underway, if they are when the summer transfer window closes.

However, ALL have been issued squad numbers at Pompey.

New arrivals Nathan Thompson, the first to sign, will wear no.20. That shirt was occupied by Noel Hunt last season, who is set to join Wigan after lining up for Paul Cook’s side on a trial basis at the weekend, funnily enough against a Notts County side featuring former Blues midfielder Liam Walker.

Huddersfield loanee Tareiq Holmes-Dennis no.3 and, as you would expect when brought in as first choice goalkeeper, Luke McGee will wear no.1.

Forward, of course captain too, Brett Pitman will don no.8.

Luke McGee
Tom Davies
Tareiq Holmes-Dennis
Danny Rose
Matt Clarke
Christian Burgess
Carl Baker
Brett Pitman
Michael Smith
Milan Lalkovic
Gary Roberts
Curtis Main
Nicke Kabamba
Jack Whatmough
Jamal Lowe
Conor Chaplin
Nathan Thompson
Kal Naismith
Kyle Bennett
Drew Talbot
Gareth Evans
Adam May
Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain
Ben Close
Alex Bass
Jez Bedford
Theo Widdrington
Brandon Haunstrup

I think the no.9 and no.11 shirts – unlikely to see many sold too – will soon become vacated, assuming Michael Smith and Gary Roberts head through the Fratton exit gates, having been informed they can leave.
