We are being ‘linked’ with several players – as usual – but midfielders Lassana Diarra, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Steve Sidwell are being most strongly ‘linked’.

Reports in today’s Sun claim that Sidwell will ‘decide’ between Pompey or Everton as the side that he will join on loan for the rest of the season after turning down Sunderland.

I cannot see Boateng leaving Spurs to be honest, but you never know.

However the word that I have – again as previously said I do not claim to have ‘inside information’ merely a trustworthy friend who has connections in media world – is that a deal for Diarra will be announced by Friday.

If the Diarra deal goes through along with a loan move for one of the others 2 players then a lot of people will question why 2 midfielders have been signed, when this area seems to be an area that is most strongest? So long as a striker can follow, and possibly a defender too I think we would be more than happy.

Arrivals would have to see some departures though wouldn’t they…
