This is what Justin considers Pompey’s best 11.

Hello, this is Justin from Malta.

As a Pompey fan for these past four years I think that our beloved Portsmouth was never better then this year’s.

So I would like to stick with the best eleven who have appeared and done a great job so far this season, and although I won’t be mentioning Noe Pamarot, Matt Taylor, Kanu and Linvoy Primus I still believe that they are part of the team I have in mind. I would like to see Yakubu back at Fratton Park though!

So, I’m gonna be very stupid to name this list, but I really believe in these lads;

David James (Best goalkeeper in England, no doubt)
Glen Johnson
Sol Campbell
Sylvan Distin
Herman Hreidarsson
Niko Kranjcar
Sulley Muntari
Papa Bouba Diop
John Utaka
Benjani
David Nugent

I believe in this team.

Thank you for giving me this little opportunity to mark my existence in the Pompey world.

Harry and Adams are doing a great, great job and really makes me proud being a Pompey fan, and I wear Portsmouth gears all the time, and considering the fact that in Malta Maltese are likely to support Man. U, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal I feel so, so proud to walk in our gears carrying the beautiful badge. Sometimes they don’t believe that I support Pompey. Thanks to everyone involved.

  • thanks for doing this, and sharing your thoughts justin… tbh i personally probably wont have too many of these in my team, but i respect your selection and undertand your reasoning – thanks again for sharing with us.

  • Well put rug, very diplomatic, i agree of the current team only a small minority sneak into a best ever XI, however football is all about opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs.
Are there many Pompey fans in Malta? i know United have a huge following out there

  • I would love to visit Malta, looks a crackin place. I agree, that that team, is probably, the best team I personally have seen, so based on quality, and not individuals, then I would have that!! But if its the team this season, then I would have davis in, and nuge out.

  • Nice take on the idea Justin I wonder if Defoe would make your xi after saturdays performance ? Gleams if you get thee chance to go to Malta take it. It’s a lovely place with lovely people I spent some time over there in the eighties I was enagaged to a Maltese girl ..but you’ll have to wait for my autobiography before you get any more details …. Justin where in Malta are you from ?… Silemma, Valetta, St Paul & St. Julians I know pretty well.. or at least I did a few years ago… The Blue Grotto… ahh takes me back.. Long live the Camilleri’s…

  • Hi Justin. Glad to ‘meet with you’. I’ll top that Chix. You all know that I am tall, dark & ugli as sin but my all year tan comes from my mother who is Maltese. English father in the navy… So I’m half Pompey & half Maltese.
My parents retired to Malta, so I’m usually there once a year & will be again in May. So Justin, we could meet for a beer. Contact Rug & he can give you my email, always great to tie up Pompey/Malta links.

  • Justin – great stuff! If you have only been supporting for four years that is spot on. Malta and Pompey have always had close links through the Navy that it is the obvious team to support and there are a lot of Maltese living here in Pompey too. I really must do mine.

  • my mum lived in malta for a few years, long, long before my time were talking 30 odd years ago i think, this was to do with a military issue… matt ive got your email, so i will pass it on to justin.

  • Did you know that Pompey toured Malta once ….. If your up for it Justin I could give you a bit of a Pompey (Malta) history lesson to tell all your folks back home…

  • Shame Justin didn’t come on to comment on his selection after the post.. are you are to email Rug.. he might not even know his selection has been chosen ?

  • 3 years down the line, I am looking at this piece… Now I am known as pompeymalta!!
