POMPEY XI vs FRIENDS OF KANU
FRATTON PARK ~ Bank Holiday Monday 25TH MAY 2009

IN AID OF THE KANU HEART FOUNDATION

In 1996 shortly after his transfer from Ajax to Inter Milan the Premiership football star Nwankwo Kanu was diagnosed with a life threatening heart condition and underwent lifesaving heart surgery on an aortic valve. He returned to perform at the highest level and the 2 time African Footballer of the year’s medal collection includes the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, Premier League, FA Cup and Olympic Gold medal. Despite this success he has not forgotten his personal experience and supports and assists through his Heart Foundation children in Africa suffering from various heart ailments but do not have access the lifesaving treatment they require.

Capstone Sports Management and Portsmouth City Football have been arranging a Pompey vs. Friends of Kanu charity football match at Portsmouth’s Fratton Park Stadium at the end of the last couple of seasons to raise awareness and funds for the Kanu Heart Foundation. The Friend’s of Kanu team has previously featured a myriad of top names and football personalities from the Premiership, Africa and Europe.

This year’s Pompey vs. Friends of Kanu match will be on Bank Holiday Monday 25th MAY 2009 at Fratton Park with Kick off at 2pm.
