Pompey vs Brentford

Fratton’s the scene again this evening as Pompey entertain Brentford, back in League action. Pompey’s current form has dipped over the last few weeks so it would seem, 3 losses out of 3 is the stat. However, 2 of these games had positives to take away which can’t be said for the weekend’s home FA Cup tie which turned out disastrous for Pompey as Notts County came away with a second comfortable win in 2 months over us. Brentford travel to the South Coast with a very respectable record that shows only 3 losses this season and it will definitely prove to be another tough test for Appy’s men to deal with.

Vital Quotes: ‘Appy linked with Blackpool’

It’s another scare for Pompey and it looks like one of our worst fears is coming true. Appy has been linked to the manager job at Blackpool ever since Ian Holloway left a week ago. It’s not what the Blues want to hear has the man has done such a good job with Pompey over the last 11 months and it would be a shame to see him go. It’s rumoured it will be his last match tonight against the Bees so the Pompey fans will be in full form, chanting away to persuade the Manchester man to stay.

Pompey Team News:

Scott Allan is missing this fixture after being sent off against Notts County in the Cup at the weekend. A 3 match ban is what he is set for and is sure to be a miss. Darrell Russell made a bench appearance at the weekend but is still well away from match fitness. Mikkel Andersen and Carl Dickinson should both walk back into the side after the debacle on saturday.

Ashley Harris has made a recovery from his ankle injury and should make the bench as should Lee Williamson

Player to watch: Akos Buzsaky

Our Hungarian has yet to hit star status , however could become a star man tonight if he can find his ex-Premiership feet. The midfielder has shown signs of his Premier League class but hasn’t made a proper man of the match performance.

Brentford Team News:

A few absentees may return for Brentford this evening as Shaleum Logan and Toumani Diagouraga come back into squad contention after being rested at the weekend. First choice keeper Simon Moore may be beaten to the cut by Richard Lee as the less favoured keeper put in a good performance against Boreham Wood in the cup at the weekend. Loanee Spencer may also return after being denied permission to play at the weekend by parent club Huddersfield. Only one injury stands for the Bees as Farid El Alagui remains out with a long term knee injury.

Player to watch: Spencer

Sorry for not finishing but off to the game- a good report awaits though fellow Blues. PUP!
