Pompey take on Leicester for the first of a double visit in 4 days tomorrow night, this visit is a Carling cup affair, or if you like, a free look at our next league opponents.

Vital Quotes:

Pompey are the feature of all the hard luck stories once more, we should of one, rub of the green etc, but at the end of the day if you don’t stick the onion in the onion bag, you don’t win! Simple as that really Pompey.
Leicester have had a fair amount of turmoil themselves recently, the fall from the heights of the Premiership saw them fall as far as league one, they have returned to the championship though of course, the club is currently being handed over to a Thai consortium, good luck with anything from that part of the World Leicester fans!

Pompey Team News:

Pompey will not have the luxury of resting a plethora of ‘stars’ this year, our squad is thin enough to compare to a rizla, a bit of rotation may occur though with Matt Ritchie and Nadir Ciftci champing at the bit, Darryl Flahavan may also get the debut he craves, you never know, a good performance and he could claim the number 1 shirt for himself.

Player to watch: Utaka

Our Nigerian enigma had one of his better games Saturday, if he follows this up with another, an extended run could beckon.

double Leicester Team News:

Steve Howard and Paul Gallagher may earn starting berths after lively appearances from the bench on saturday, QPR ran out winners still however, despite a lively showing from the home side, sounds familar doesn’t it?

Player to watch: Andy King

top scorer so far with 4 in 6, outscores Pompey on his own.

Match Facts & Stats

Pompey have lost their last two home matches with Leicester, both games were in torrential rain if I recall, our last win was back in ’96, other notable games would be the play-off games in 1993 when we crashed out of a Premiership chance (Joachim was offside Mr.Milford!)
