Pompey will look to bounce back from last weeks horror show at Ewood Park in the easiest possible way, by hosting double champions Chelsea at Fratton.

Vital Quotes:

Harry Redknapp will be hoping for a happy 60th birthday by gaining Pompey’s first Premiership points against Chelsea, in fact it has taken until this season to actually score against the blues, hardly a great record. In fact to find Pompey’s last win in a league match against Chelsea you have to go back to 1960!

Pompey Team News:

Pedro Mendes looks like missing the rest of the season with ankle ligament trouble, Glen Johnson is ineligable under the terms of his loan, Lauren is struggling as well as are Sean Davis and Gary O’neil who will both face late fitness tests.

Player to watch: James

Had an absolute blinder at the Bridge to keep the score at a respectable level, had an absolute nightmare first-half last week at Ewood!
If the David James we love down at Fratton turns up, we will stand a chance, if the James of last week gives Chelsea a head start it will be the same old outcome, defeat.

Chelsea Team News:

John Terry the newly titled ‘Mr. Indestructible’ will be up on blocks with concussion, although Chelsea’s defensive woes will be slightly lessened with the return of Ashley Cole.

Player to watch: Terry

I know he’s not playing, but his abscence is the greatest chance Pompey will have of springing a result out of Chelsea, with him they are formidable opponents, without Pompey may fancy getting something for the first time out of the Blues.

Match Facts & Stats

Only facts to come out of this fixture in the Premiership so far is Pompey play Chelsea, Pompey lose, normally 2-0 at Fratton.

Ref Watch:

Mark Halsey (Lancs)
One of the less in conspicuous refs around, he generally lets the game flow and tries to keep the cards in his pocket.

Match Prediction:

After last weeks prediction of Pompey beating Blackburn, Christ knows!
Defeat is the norm, but Pompey normally beat one of the so called big boys at Fratton in a season, so tomorrow would be a good first all round. Europe is fast becoming a pipe dream, so Pompey need to start playing again without shackles and start knocking it around again as they did before Xmas.
