Pompey lost once more on the road, March is a long, long time to go back to spot our last maximum on the road, Palace await on tuesday, they will not be any easier either, but where Pompey could consider themselves a bit unlucky against Ipswich and West Ham, this time they got what they deserved.

Pompey went for an unchanged 11 in this one, a sign of attacking intent perhaps, but it was the defence founf wanting after only 6 minutes.

Bryson skipped past Ben Haim and amshed home to do to Pompey what we had managed the week before, taking an early lead to get the home fans onside.

Pompey went straight up the other end to try and get parity, a key moment though when Halford charged up field to be crudely hacked down by Shackell, after treatment he continued, Lawrence floated in the cross but the ball fell to Pearce who could only register a swing and a miss.

Lawrence tested the Derby defence once more, this time Halford rose highest to smash a header off of the bar, Pompey’s away day luck continued.

Derby though showed how to finish seconds later, Robinson fired in ashot which Henderson could only parry and Maguire gleefully knocked home.

Halford was withdrawn reluctantly minutes later, he looked like he wanted to stay on, but the bench were not prepared for further injury, on cam Ward and it was he who was at fault for the third, Hendrick slipped in athrough ball which he perhaps should of cut out and namesake Jamie ward slotted home to make it three.

Like last season here, Pompey were dead and buried by half time, we had some chance but couldn’t convert while Derby showed them the way in front of goal.

The second half and Derby seemed to take their foot off, understandably I suppose with a nice cushion, Norris came closest, glancing narrowly wide.

Pompey made two changes on the hour, introducing Razak and Futacs, Razak giving an immeadiate glimpse of his talent with some nifty footwork.

With 10 minutes to go, Pompey got their consolation, Pearce nodding home his first Pompey goal from Lawrence’s cross.

Ben haim almost clawed another back, but Fielding kept out his low effort, it was all too late though and Pompey had yet another defeat on the road, an issue that our new manager will have to address whoever he may be!
