Pompey finally enjoyed a maximum on the road, 9 months after last doing so, skipper Norris was the late hero once more, waiting until injury time before driving home.

Pompey made the one change from last week, Varney being preferred to Huseklepp.

Pompey promised to win ugly if needed, they did too, this was the best away performance since the defeat to Ipswich, Henderson in goal had one worthwhile save to make all game, Pompey on the other hand carved open Burnley on more than one occasion.

It could and maybe should of been 1-0 by the third minute, Norris fired in a drive that was only parried, the ball landed at Varney’s feet but he got his legs in a right old tangle and the ball was hacked clear with the net untroubled.

A big talking point was then created when Varney lifted the ball over Grant in the goal, Varney was wiped out but had the free-kick given against him for a presumably a high foot, another day and it would of been a penalty.

Varney limped out shortly after with what looked like a knee injury after his collision, this though bought on Erik Huseklepp who was immeadiately in the thick of it, his run ended with a Mullins shot that was nervously cleared.

Burnley threatened first in the second period, McCann forcing Henderson into his first demanding save, his low drive was well kept out though.

Pompey went straight up the other end and almost took the lead once more, Huseklepp volleying narrowldy wide from the right side of the box.

  • Not often are a bogey team but it seems visiting Turf Moor we have some cursed clarets. Long may it continue. Just don’t want to wait this long again for the next away win. Well done lads, great sruff, now a little matter of a certain team we play next Sunday!!!

  • Well I wonder who that could be?

Good result for you yesterday and is sure to make your confidence rocket. Should be a good game on Sunday.

  • Hussler, Pompey only ever get 30 seconds at the end, funny how a certain other team are the featured match every week

  • PFC TV stick up a good 20 minutes of highlights of each game a few days after the game. Unfortunately you need to subscribe to watch them, but it’s certainly a step up from the Football League show.

  • I know Mrs Norris is getting some credit for the late goal but look again; he’s on the edge of the box with four defenders round him! A stunning goal all round!

  • Tbh, great to get a win but it still doesn’t solve the deadfully poor striker efficiency. We thought Kitten was going to talk his way to a sending off tbh. But anyway the positives are 3 points and the team will be more confident against the stains. Generally Appy seems to be getting to grips quicker than Cott managed.
