Pompey were planning a ‘sensation £7m swoop’ for Fernando Belluschi on Saturday.

This is of course despite clearly visible obstacles in the way such as no takeover done just yet or no manager in place, but it does not seem to matter either way as the guy is ‘said’ to have ‘held talks over a possible move to Porto’ over the weekend…

It is ‘said’ that the 25-year-old will sign a 4-year contract with the Portuguese champions and then Belluschi’s current club Olympiakos will replace the Argentine midfielder with Lyon midfielder Kim Kallstrom, who was also a ‘reported’ Pompey target?

Portsmouth, Porto, easily confused so you can see how the media could make an easy mistake like this! Either way we look as though whenever we do have a manager in place they will be looking elsewhere…

Back to the future…

Channel4.com’s Football Italia made a boob on Sunday, or was it Portuguese paper A Bola?

Whatever though channel4.com’s Football Italia was reporting, something that A Bola had, that ‘Portsmouth manager Jamie’s Dad’ had spoken to Portuguese legend Figo and this could see him end his ‘retirement’, which had only just started, with a move to Pompey!

Not once, but twice he was quoted as ‘the Portsmouth manager’… They have either been stuck in a time warp for the past 9-months or so or they know something we do not…

As it happens, this ‘friendly chat’ on a golf course ‘could’ result in the 36-year-old being dragged out of the retirement village, again, to sign for Spurs – afterall that is where he is now the manager!

Either way a move to England looks unlikely, be that to Pompey, Spurs or anywhere else – although that said he would be a typical signing of his…if he did not have any money to spend, and of course he has ‘plenty of this’ at Spurs, as we are often told by some visitors here…
