PompeyFrippy answers some questions for Vital Pompey as we focus on the members over the summer months.

I know it was a miserable season, overall, and reflecting on parts of it will be the last thing you want to do but we had to take one for the team!

So, sum up the 2009/10 season in 3 words?
Draining but emotional.

What was your season highlight?
The final whistle of at the cup final. When we outsung Chelsea after losing the cup I have never been so proud to be a Pompey fan. The passion we showed throughout the match was incredible, but to show that much strength after such a draining season was just phenomenal.

12-months ago things were meant to be looking ‘a lot brighter’ with SAF taking over, we all know this panned out! Charlatans come and gone and we are where we are now. But what are your hopes for our future?
After being promised the moon and the stars, it’s easy to be complacent and want riches beyond belief, but like the majority of fans, all I want is some financial stability, clear the debts and have a squad not made up of loans and freebies.

Lets be honest, not much, if anything will come through the Fratton gates player wise this summer. Even so, who, realistically, would you like us to sign this summer? Taking into account we will spend little, or no money, assuming we are not under a continued transfer embargo anyway…
We need at least two senior players. If we can hold on to a few from Jamo, Hreidarsson, Brown, Rocha, Mokoena then I’d like to see us bring in some promising young lads to play alongside them.

Several will go for sure, but who would be the player that you would choose to sell if you could anyway, and why?
Boateng. We’d get a decent amount of money for him, and let’s face it, he wouldn’t perform in the Championship, he barely performed in the Premiership unless there was a reason to.

And the player that you would love us to keep at Fratton Towers if we could, and why?
Got to be Jamo, he’s done so much for the club on and off the field and with his experience he can offer so much. Also, let’s not forget he is still one of, if not, the best English goalkeeper.

What are you hoping for from Pompey in the 2010/11 season?
To continue to play good football. A team of hard-working players makes such a difference to how the fans react to the team and if we start on a level playing field with the rest of the league then there’s no reason why we can’t reach the play-offs. A decent, experienced manager who players strive to impress is also vital.

How many Pompey games do you expect to attend?
It depends. If I’m in the country I’ll be at Fratton Park. Maybe 4 or 5.

Finally, as it is a world cup summer how do you think England will do?
There’s 2 or 3 teams we can beat, and the rest we should beat. If we play well as a team then I can’t see any reason why we can’t win it.

Feel free to add anything else you would like to here?
As strange as it may seem I’m looking forward to our season in the Championship. The last time we were there gave us some good memories and I hope we can add to that. Who needs the Premier League anyway?
