Pompey talk with hammersmithblue

We can now see what hammersmithblue had to say when asked a few questions about Pompey, the season just gone and the one ahead along with the ‘possible’ future ahead.

Vital Pompey has previously brought you the ‘knowing me knowing you series’ – which is still running, so others will be added and if you want to do one just email – and we had the ‘talking Pompey with’ series last summer, this now returns under a new name and some fresh questions as ‘Pompey talk with’…

hammersmithblue was asked 6 questions about the 2008/09 season and what the hopes are for the 2009/10, one and indeed our future, is.

This is what they said…

  • So, sum up the 2008/09 season in 3 words?
    Sod.off.harry.

  • Suddenly things seem ‘a lot brighter’ for Pompey with Dr SAF taking over – what are your hopes/aspirations under the new ownership? Assuming everything goes through!
Firstly am convinced that it won’t be QUITE as good as it felt like is was going to be when I first heard the news. However am also convinced that it will be a shedload better than it would have been without him. I suppose it all comes down to the dosh and it would be good not only to buy good players but also be able to keep hold of them for more than a season or two.

  • Which players – that we could realistically sign – would you like to see arrive this summer?
Difficult to say – I was so long in the frame of mind looking to get half decent players on the cheap. Would like to see someone in centre midfield with at least half the talent of Lassie. Would like to see a nippy lurker to work with Crouchie up front (cos I think he’ll stay). Would like to see a reliable replacement for Sol.

  • If you had to select 1 player to ‘sell’ or ‘release’ this summer who would it be and why?
Anyone who isn’t going be dedicated to playing hard for us. I personally wouldn’t trust Utaka – one goal in the final home game doesn’t wipe out so many games of impotent uselessness.

  • What are you hoping for from Pompey in the 2009/10 season?
Last year I said I wanted a top table finish. This year I would be happy with feeling safe from relegation at a relatively early point in the year rather than all this palaver we had this time round. That’s a bit negative so let’s say top ten finish.

  • How many Pompey games do you expect to make during that season?
All home and probably Fulham, Chelsea, Arsenal away. Think I’ll stay away from White Hart Lane.

Thanks to hammersmithblue for answering these.

    PLAY UP POMPEY!
