Pompey suffered a second defeat in 2 games, this time throwing a lead away and conceding to another injury time goal.
As expected Etuhu made a debut in midfield coming straight in for the banned Norris, Ward was shuffled to makeshift left-back and Ben haim played on the right with Halford and Pearce in the middle.
The game itself was all Cardiff in the first half hour, Pompey were non-existent as an attacking force, Henderson do his utmost to keep the bluebirds at bay and no doubt give the Newcastle scouts something to watch.
Kenny Miller gave the home side the lead, rifling home from a tight angle after Pompey couldn’t clear the ball away, the lead was deservered and Pompey couldn’t argue with the scoreboard.
Cardiff had countless chances to increase the lead, but Henderson and some waywared finishing kept us in it.
Pompey got a leveller out of nothing however, David Marshall fumbled a cross and Futacs was on hand to lash home.
This galvanised Pompey and suddenly it was the men in red and black that looked most likely, the half-time whistle coming as a relief to the home side.
The match was to tilt further in to Pompey’s favour with second half not even warm, more defensive slackness letting Halford slot home this time, Pompey should of been out of sight but had an unlikely lead.
With the lead behind them, Pompey slipped into a familiar routine, slipping further behind into their own half and trying to repel the blue waves of attack, as so often though this was their un-doing, lack of awareness from a quick throw led to Conway planting a cross straight onto Taylor’s head, Henderson having little chance to save.
Pompey were clinging on for a draw now, but seems the norm, lost it at the death, Benjani gave a free-kick away wide on Cardiff’s left, as he argued the toss, the ball was played to Conway who lashed home form outside the area with our defence as organised as out finances, the game had slipped away and Pompey fans took another slap in the face.
