Just two days after Sylvain Distin’s free transfer arrival, Pompey have completed the transfer of Hermann Hreidarsson, also on a free.

Following Charlton’s relegation – the fourth relegation of 32 year old Hreidarsson’s English career, having suffered similar fates with Palace, Wimbledon and Ipswich, a clause in his Charlton contract kicked in and this allowed him to leave on a free – and Pompey pounced, signing the Icelandic international on a 2 year contract.

Harry Redknapp has tried to sign Hreidarsson previously but his attempt was thwarted, but perseverance has paid off for Redknapp and he has finally got his man who will make another good addition to the squad.

PLAY UP POMPEY!
