It’s been a cracking week for Pompey, 7 points in as many days has lifted rock bottom spirits, the team is starting to gel, the points starting to flow.
Pompey took another huge away following, over 2,500 fans made the trip, another display of passion that keeps the club breathing.
Pompey came out the blocks absolutely blazing, McLeod up against his old club, intercepted in the second minute, the keeper flattened him and it was a pen before the per match burgers had gone down.
Howard stepped up and like last week contrived to miss his effort, this time the post denying him.
Howard was still shaking his head at his miss when Gyepes slid in McLeod once more, this time he powered into the box and slotted home beautifully, Pompey were rampant.
Gyepes has been an inspired signing by Appleton, he is colossal at the back and provides the goal threat you love to have from a centre back, he rose again in the 20th minute to power in his third goal in as many games.
MK looked shell shocked, Pompey were pinging the ball around around creating openings all over the place, only wayward finishing was stopping the game being over by half time.
As is the situation when you pass up golden chances, something will bite you on the arse, just before half time a cross was swung in and struck the hapless Webster who was tracking back, the ball deflected off him and gave the dons a lifeline.
Still at the interval, Pompey were a goal to the good and looking good for all three points, Karl Robinson in the MK dressing room was no doubt going bansai, his team were undefeated at home and getting the runaround.
The second half got going and here was an immediate shift in the balance of play, MK were now the dominate side and Pompey the team being forced to defend.
Alan Smith was on for Ostembor and was making his presence felt in midfield, this seemed to have galvanized the MK team and Pomoey’s supply lines were shut off.
The equaliser also had an element of misfortune to it, a header crashed off the bar but fell kindly to Potter who was able to knee the ball high into he net.
Buzsaky come on and almost made an immediate impact, shooting narrowly wide, Pompey had been under the cosh but still managed to create a couple of chances, Wes Thomas particularly wasteful, Webster being unlucky as his goal bound header was inadvertently blocked by the aforementioned.
Still a point away to a solid home side is no bad feat, Pompey are looking brighter and more confident all of a sudden, if this purple patch can become a purple streak, the season will seem so much sweeter.
