Pavel Paska has been a busy man recently, the agent of Patrik Berger – who is said to be returning to Pompey – and two Czech teenagers – who he says are on trial at Pompey – is also the agent of Milan Baros, and he is claiming that an ‘official’ approach has been made for the former Liverpool striker.

Baros looked like staying at Lyon, but with Fred not leaving afterall he looks likely to move on and Paska has told the Czech Daily Sport that an offer has been made: ‘I have already given the official offer of Portsmouth to Lyon’s management.

‘Their coach Harry Redknapp has an eminent interest in Milan’.

He seems pretty sure that both the Czech stars will be playing at Fratton Park in the not to distant future as he went onto talk about both – particularly Berger – in more detail: ‘at Portsmouth he could rejoin with Patrik Berger who should move there from Aston Villa.

‘Harry Redknapp was a fan of Patrik Berger in the past. He trusts Czech players – that is why he would like to bet on Milan.

‘It is Patrik whom Redknapp would like to see at Portsmouth now in January.

‘He runs out of contract at Aston Villa in the summer. I have already discussed it with Villa manager Martin O’Neill and so far he has not been too excited about it. We will continue in talks’.

Agents can often ‘tout’ their players – sometimes in order to make them ‘more appealing’ but I think there could be some element of truth in this and would be happy to see both of them arrive – or in Berger’s case re-arrive – at Pompey.

My thinking would be that any move for Baros would most likely be a loan deal, but it is also said that Lyon would prefer a straight up cash deal – at the same time it is also said that he does not really fancy a move here? But we have chased him for sometime, and our long-term pursuits often bare fruit.
