‘Freddy P was the man of the match against Fulham’, not my vote, yours – although these findings from pompeyrug’s poll are thoughts that I do and do not agree with to be honest…
Yep, without a doubt Freddy P had a good game, he was here there and everywhere – full of running but he had no one helping him, and this is something he will need.
So, I can see why we voted that way but to be honest in my thinking, and I never thought I would hear myself say this, I thought Hayden Mullins had a fantastic game – without a shadow of a doubt his best in a Pompey shirt so feel he was unlucky to just, and I mean literally just, miss out…
It seems as though John Utaka has been on voting himself again though, 7%! Please!
None of us agreed with the actual official ‘Air Malta’ man of the match award winner Marc Wilson though.
To be fair to Wilson he did have a good game, he looked solid and dealt with just about everything thrown at him but one mistake late in the 2nd half seemed to rattle him for a while, but he certainly did not look out of place and stuck very much to the ‘when in doubt boot it out’ thoughts you are always given as a kid.
I tipped him as a player to watch last summer, and after a decent debut season and some heavy working out this summer – all those metal poles he carries around with him to beat Dave Nugent with must help! – he is looking a stronger player who looks like being a serious player for us this season…
Congratulations to Freddy P on winning the first Vital Pompey man of the match of the season and of course Marc Wilson for winning the first official one.
