Pompey Made That Way Harder Than We Needed

|

Ok, we would have all hoped for things to be working out as they currently are but hands up who honestly felt after 13-games Pompey would be sat at the top of the League One table? Added to that, in this position having lost just the one game?

Well, that’s what’s happening so far and we’re loving it!

Victory at Wimbledon on Saturday kept us at the summit and meant the Blues reacted positively to a first league defeat, which of course came a week prior when Gillingham left Fratton Park with the points.

There was a good following at Kingsmeadow, however, such a limited allocation of tickets – plenty more would have wanted to go to go to London too – made coming across one such an ordeal.

At the game or not, another away win was pleasing and leaves us ready for the next already.

It wouldn’t be Pompey if we didn’t make it hard for ourselves, giving a “squeaky bum” time from a game that had seen us in complete control and coasting at two-nil up. The game could, if not should, have been more comfortable after Tom Naylor and Gareth Evans’ first-half goals.

In fairness it was a “worldie” – these are becoming common against us – that got Wimbledon back into the game through James Hanson.

It wasn’t just the fans that were happy, the owner and his son shared their delight at another three points gained too.

Please don’t wake me up if this is a dream, I’m enjoying it too much.

However, it’s typical that Pompey are going along so well when I had to forgo my season ticket due to the arrival of my daughter – I wonder if I’ll be able to get one back in a year or two’s time?!
