Pompey Have A Keeper

|

Yep, you guessed it, the upcoming baby and my job have left me very short of time so I couldn’t get to Craig MacGillivray arrival until now.

Obviously, as the title says, following the signing of MacGillivray, Pompey now have another goalkeeper, but will he actually be a keeper?!

In recent years we’ve struggled to find a proper no.1. Luke McGee was signed last summer with this in mind. In fairness, I felt he had a decent enough season – bar a few mistakes as it drew to a close – and was established as this throughout the 2017-18 campaign. However, I can’t help but have this feeling Kenny Jackett isn’t quite convinced… well, in the short-term anyway.

What will MacGillivray bring? In all honesty, I’m not sure as I don’t know too much about him, but his signing will give us two senior goalkeepers fighting it out to be the main man. It’ll also allow Alex Bass to go out on loan and get some regular football to benefit him, ideally us in the long-term.

So, welcome to Fratton Park MacGillivray. I’ll back the judgement of those bringing him in and look forward to his battle with McGee.

Meanwhile, the news also broke earlier this week that Adam May had put pen to paper on the two-year contract extension he was offered by the Blues.

I wasn’t left with much doubt May would sign his deal, now that he has I look forward to his further development at Fratton Park, which could well involve the youngster spending a bit of time away from the south coast on loan next season?
