Late preview appearing, after all the going on’s last night it seemed irrelevant for a while, but the game goes ahead, and we the fans remain a constant as the turmoil comes to a head like a giant boil on the bum, the day of the lancing is nigh!
As usual in Pompey World, all the chat has been about off the field matters, ironic that I caught some of the football hour on Express, the ‘coming out of administration’ situation was being held up by what was described as a minor blip! someone even texted in to say how lovely it was to talk a bout football again rather than off field matters, wind forward one hour and it was mayhem!
One matter that arise yesterday was the re-signing of Hermann Hreidarsson, this will lift the squad no end, his personality does that without kicking a ball.
Hull Team News:
James Harper is line for a long delayed debut, the ex-Reading man is availavle at last after breaking a foot in pre-season.
Jimmy Bullard is struggling however, his knee has flared up again and he could miss a third match on the trot.
Fagan is another doubt, the striker has a groin injury.
Ex-Pompey man Rowan Vine is in contention.
Player to watch: Koren
Starting to edge into veteran status, but the ex-baggie boy is top scorer from midfield with 3, with Hull not conceding many but scoring few as well, his goal threat is key.
Pompey Team News:
Hermann has re-joined the squad, he is likely to be on the bench however, but with Rocha absent with a hamstring could feature. Mokoena is available again after suspension, while Cotterill has to decide if Ward or sonko gives way to accomodate him.
With Utaka fit it will probably be as you were elsewhere.
Player to watch: Utaka
I think he might be about to have a blinder against someone, he has been quite steady so far, but with his pace and eye for goal when through, he is going to tear someone apart soon.
Match Facts & Stats
In Hull’s 2 season in the Prem, both matches finished 0-0, the last positive result was in 1991 when Kuhl and Rooster Russell gave us a 2-0 win
The Grim Reaper
Pompey have had many lows over the last 18 months, but the bottom has been found now, how will our heroes react to this latest kick in the balls? Hedge a bet here.
Supposed to be Forest next week, could well be Forest Green in a year though!
