After weeks of rumour, speculation, negotiations and rejections Pompey have finally made their first “big name” signing of the summer with Sol Campbell.

Following the disappointment of the Manuel Fernandes record £10 million signing falling through (albeit possibly only a temporary setback as something could still happen here in time?) Missing out on the highly talented and popular Andres D`Alessandro, so instrumental in our survival last season, the reported rejection and rejected bids for so many other players the transfer window has finally opened and begun for us?hopefully!

Campbell`s signing may not involve the sky high fee of others banded around during the summer but it still rubber stamps Pompey`s ambition and intentions for the future. So this should (or should I have said could!) hopefully prove the catalyst for others to follow before the window closes at the end of August.
