The trialist who turned out for Pompey against Gosport in last nights 4-1 win has been revealed as Jordi Lopez.

The Spanish midfielder, who was with both Barcelona and Real Madrid as a youngster is undergoing what it believed to be a weeklong trial with Pompey as he aims to win himself a contract. After spells with the Spanish giants he moved onto Sevilla, where he won the uefa cup in 2004 and then onto Real Mallorca, who released him this summer with him spending last season on loan with Racing Santander.

Lopez is described as a defensive midfielder, who can also play on the right side of midfield.

Yep, we all know – and you can be damn sure Harry Redknapp knows it too – we are in desperate need of some width in our squad but there is no harm in taking a look at this fella is there – you never know if things work out the 27-year-old could prove a transfer masterstroke…
