Pompey Braced For Offers For Winger?

|

Ronan Curtis has been a revelation since he came to Fratton Park. Such has been his form for Pompey the winger has forced his way into the Republic of Ireland senior squad, not that he’s managed to win his first cap as yet.

It isn’t just Martin O’Neill who has been impressed by Curtis. According to TEAMtalk, with what they “understand,” Leeds, Leicester and Sheffield United are among the clubs who have watched Curtis this season?

Apparently, Brighton, Middlesbrough and Derby have also sent scouts to watch Curtis, with “30 clubs believed to be tracking him.” 30 clubs!?

This report concluded: “It’s understood Pompey are bracing themselves for offers in January and whilst they know it would be hard to reject a substantial bid – they are hoping the buying club would allow him to stay, in theory, until the end of the season, especially if Pompey are still in with a chance of promotion at the turn of the year.”

Will Curtis leave? Well, of course, we wouldn’t want this, but, as much as we’re not a selling club, as such, we’ve got to be realistic that if an offer that’s too good to refuse comes in we’d have to sell.

Also, we have to accept a player’s head can easily be turned, so the lure of a step-up to the Championship – all being we’ll the Blues can achieve that come May anyway – if not the Premier League could be hard to refuse.

What does Curtis have to say?

Let’s just see what January does bring.
