The world cup started yesterday and Aaron Mokoena had the honour of leading South Africa out as they became the first African nation to host the world cup finals.

Moko had a decent game, although he was largely at fault for Mexico’s equaliser in the 1-1 draw. A South African defence that looked dodgy a couple of times finally went to that particular well one too many times and it cost them.

The world cup continues to day, and with it other Pompey players enter the fold…

Kanu’s glittering career is drawing to a close now, his Pompey career ‘probably’ ended at Wembley with our cup final defeat, and his international one ends after the world cup.

62-year-old Kanu, officially listed as 33, will captain Nigeria and he wants them to go out with a bang – he has said as much and warned the Argies, and everyone else, they are in for a surprise!

Well, they have a good chance to start laying down this marker with the game against Argentina this afternoon, but Kanu and Nigeria get this victory they think they can get?
