Two of Pompey’s players, although how long this will remain the case remains to be seen, look to have moved a step closer to elimination from the world cup after Nigeria tasted defeat against Greece yesterday.

The King’s reign is over?

Kanu’s international career with Nigeria looks to be going out with a whimper, as opposed to the ‘bang’ that he predicted as the African nation look odds on to be eliminated from the world cup next week following a second defeat in as many games when Greece came from behind to beat them 2-1 yesterday.

Kanu, allegedly the Nigerian captain, has yet to play a single minute at the world cup after he again remained on the bench, along with big bag John Utaka.

Utaka has also failed to have a look-in so far – this does little to help us in our efforts to offload ‘The Torpedo’…

Nigeria will need to beat South Korea in their final group game to have any chance of going through, although even a win will ‘probably’ not be enough to save The Super Eagles.
