Brett Pitman, which is a very good thing obviously, even if Pompey haven’t completely missed him – but who wouldn’t miss someone who has scored nine goals in 12 appearances – in his injury enforced absence, could be back in contention against Blackburn on Saturday.

The captain returned to training today so should be in the Blues’ squad travelling to Ewood Park as we look for a reaction to our midweek defeat at Doncaster.

Meanwhile, Kenny Jackett has confirmed talks with Victor Adeboyejo.

Yes, Pompey might have held talks with Adeboyejo, 19, at the training ground but there’s no immediate chance of the forward coming to Fratton Park instantly – his signing would be something of a coup though.

He told the News: ‘We’ve had talks but I wouldn’t say we’re close to signing him. He’d be a development signing. We’ve just met him and talked through the situation with him. That’s it.’

Adeboyejo has been on trial at Premier League champions Chelsea, favourites to sign him according to the News, and has also been linked with Barnsley and Bolton.
