Early reports today, in what The Daily Record claim is an ‘exclusive’ are saying that Rangers have opened preliminary talks with Pompey about a possible move North of the boarder for Pedro Mendes.

With Harry Redknapp needing to sell before he can buy the suggestion is that a fee of around £2.5m would be enough to take him to Scotland – but the sticking point could be his £32,000 per week wage demands…

It looked like Mendes would be staying after all, but maybe not? If we do sell him though I would hope it would not be for a measly £2.5m as he is worth much more than that – besides what quality, as good if not better than Pedro, would £2.5m bring in!

My thinking is that I hope this does not happen, and it is not true, but ‘if’ we have/will accept a bid for the player it is only a matter of time before he goes, as once you start doing this it becomes clear to people that you are willing to cash in on them.

As I say ‘if’ we really do feel the need to cash in on Mendes lets at least cash in with a more respectable amount than a pitiful £2.5m…
