Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

9/8/1981: Azar Karadas

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Azar Karadas – the Pompey player from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Karadas wasn’t a player I saw play too much to be honest, in fact I doubt too many did as he wasn’t a player who turned out for Pompey that often really. But, didn’t he once score a beauty of an acrobatic goal for the Blues against Bolton?

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 7
Won – 2
Drawn – 2
Lost – 3

I can recall a few of these games, including the most recent defeat at Coventry in the League Cup, claiming two.

The draw at Exeter in 2014 was, I think anyway, our first away game of the season, maybe even first of that 2014/15 season? I was also at the League Cup win at Stevenage, a hard fought win in 2010 when Boro caused us plenty of problems – enjoyed a cracking evening in the club bar ahead of the game.

What are your memories of Karadas from his Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?

  • Just 11 v Barnet (& Christian Dailly’s only appearance) yes I was 1 of the 4,464 to witness it…as for Karadas I remember his only goal, a late equaliser v Bolton to salvage a point
