Another feature, again courtesy of PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

7/5/1936: Ray Potter
7/5/1982: Akos Buzsaky
7/5/1983: Brian Murphy

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Ray Potter, Akos Buzsaky and Brian Murphy – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Potter was before my time, but do recall Buzsaky’s brief spell with Pompey, which didn’t really live up to expectation. Then again few did around that period, did they?

Murphy, probably a goalkeeper many would prefer to forget, is also remembered. I noticed he had been no.1 in the Championship for Cardiff after he left the Blues.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 17
Won – 6
Drawn – 5
Lost – 6

Very little in things today, usually though Pompey either win or lose, draws ever so slightly behind.

I can claim two games today, the defeat in the visit to Fratton Park of League Two champions Northampton in 2016 and a final day draw with Scunthorpe at Glanford Park in 2011.

What are your memories of Potter, Buzsaky and/or Murphy from their Pompey days? Also, have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories of them too?

PLAY UP POMPEY
