Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

6/5/1934: Ron Rafferty

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Ron Rafferty – the Pompey player from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Rafferty was before my time. I know him by name, but that’s about it.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 9
Won – 4
Drawn – 3
Lost – 2

Well, we’ve seen very few games on this day in the past and there isn’t too much in it. However, victories head anything else.

I recall many fixtures, including Barnsley in 2001, but can only claim the one game. This was certainly a memorable one though as the Fratton Park thrashing of Cheltenham in 2017 saw the Blues win the League Two title.

What are your memories of Rafferty from his Pompey days? Also, have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories of them too?
