Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

6/2/1987: Joe Devera

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Joe Devera – the Pompey player from the Blues’ past born on this day.

I wouldn’t go as far to say I recall Devera fondly but I certainly remember his – try to forget most of it – days with Pompey. Last I heard he had moved into non-league football after his spell with the Blues?

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 15
Won – 5
Drawn – 2
Lost – 8

I can claim two games today and despite the most recent being fairly recent I cannot recall the defeat against Leyton Orient at Fratton Park in 2016 at all! My other was the draw with Tranmere at Fratton from 1999.

What are your memories of Devera from his Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?

  • 16,99,93&88..99 I’m sure was when Guy came back on loan,93 was a result that cost us promotion that season. It was Chris Price’s debut & he got sent off,88 got my win in the old first Div….Saw Devera’s only goal in the 3-2 win v Stevenage, redeeming himself as earlier his bad back pass cost us a goal
