Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

5/3/1928: Jimmy Elder
5/3/1935: John McClelland
5/3/1988: Trevor Carson

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Jimmy Elder, John McClelland and Trevor Carson – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Elder and McClelland were both before my time – and that of most I would think – but I do recall Carson well from the goalkeepers loan spell with Pompey.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 16
Won – 6
Drawn – 3
Lost – 7

Can claim the one today; the win at Fratton Park against Sheffield United in 2011.

What are your memories Elder, McClelland – probably both too early for anyone – and/or Carson from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?

  • Went to Oxford in 69, game had been postponed from Boxing Day due to snow and was Pompey’s first ever visit to the Manor.

Trevor Carson now plays at Motherwell with Curtis Main!
